“He is one of fastest strikers in the world and a former Chelsea player and Erik ten Hag now wants him to replace Antony Martial”-Manchester United ‘interested’ in shock move for Chelsea former striker who is very fast on the ball.

Manchester United have “expressed interest” in a shock move for former Chelsea flop Timo Werner, reports claim.United are said to be on the hunt for an attacking reinforcement in January and according to Sky Germany, the Red Devils have already made an enquiry for Werner.

The Germany international is believed to be unhappy with his lack of gametime at RB Leipzig, who he rejoined in 2022.After finding the net 16 times last term, Werner has scored just twice this season in eight Bundesliga games – where he’s managed 203 minutes.

No official bid has been presented, nor have any negotiations, but Werner is reported to be “on the list” for Erik ten Hag.The former Stuttgart man has been linked with Real Madrid, Fulham, Crystal Palace and West Ham in the past.

But Werner’s time in the Premier League left a lot to be desired after he scored just 10 tims in 56 top flight appearances across two seasons.Chelsea forked out £47.5 million for Werner, who was part of the side which won the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel in 2021.Yet the 27-year-old ended up heading back to Leipzig a year later for £25.3 million.

It has been mentioned by BILD that Werner didn’t enjoy his time in England due to the media hype and pressure to perform.

Werner has found himself omitted from the Germany squad in recent times, with his last cap coming in June 2022 in the UEFA Nations League prior to Julian Nagelsmann’s appointment as manager. The striker is back in England temporarily for Leipzig’s penultimate Champions League group stage clash with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
