After Manchester United made a bid for the Real Madrid midfielder, Aurelien Tchouameni, Erik ten Hag has reportedly kept his word to the player. With the additions of Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana, and Mason Mount this season, the Red Devils have already made significant investments in their first team. However, it has been widely reported that Ten Hag is still trying to close deals for a midfielder and a center defender before the transfer market closes.
With Manchester United prepared for the likely exits of Fred and Scott McTominay, Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina appears to be their top target in the midfield.Numerous teams in Europe are interested in Fred, while West Ham had a £30 million offer for Scotland international McTominay rejected.Furthermore, assuming all works out, Tchouameni of Real Madrid is said to still be Ten Hag’s top choice for the midfield position this summer.
Tchouameni, who has been linked with Liverpool too, started 24 of Real’s 38 La Liga matches last season and is concerned that the arrival of Jude Bellingham could push him further down the pecking order. And now Spanish publication Nacional claim that Man Utd have made a €70m (£60m) offer for Tchouameni with the Red Devils hoping it ‘will be enough’ to convince Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to sell.It is understood that Ten Hag ‘contacted’ the France international ‘a few weeks ago’ and ‘promised him that he would do everything possible to get him out of Real Madrid’.
The 23-year-old ‘thanked’ the Dutchman but has ‘refused to make a decision until there was an agreement between the two clubs’.
Tchouameni could now have a decision to make with the report insisting that Man Utd have lodged an offer with Ten Hag ‘convinced’ that the Frenchman is a ‘necessary reinforcement’.
It is claimed that the former Monaco midfielder is their new ‘priority’ and ‘now it is Madrid’s turn to give an answer’ to the Red Devils. The report adds that ‘the smartest thing to do is to sell’ Tchouameni if Ancelotti refuses to give him minutes this season with the Italian lucky to have a stacked midfield. While the Real Madrid star ‘must also show his intentions’ to Man Utd and Ten Hag as he ‘still hasn’t made it clear if he wants to continue at Madrid, or if he prefers to move to the Premier League’.
