£40m Manchester United target tells club he wants to leave this summer: Ten Hag has already signed him once

Manchester United linked forward Mohammed Kudus has expressed his desire to leave Ajax.

Last week we wrote that Manchester United should look to capitalise on Mohammed Kudus’ unhappy situation at Ajax.

Now it appears the situation has developed, with Mohammed Kudus making clear he wishes to leave the club this summer.

The Athletic report that Kudus “has made the Dutch side aware of his intention to exit once the window opens on June 10.”

Manchester United are referenced in the report as holding an interest in the versatile forward, who Ajax value at £40 million.

Kudus has played this season as a striker, on the right wing, and as an attacking midfielder.

This season Kudus has scored 18 goals in all competitions, and was also on target for Ghana at the World Cup.

It was Erik ten Hag who first signed Kudus for Ajax, beating Manchester United to his signature in 2019.

He has overcome a serious knee injury to establish himself as a key player for the club – but clearly feels this is the right time to move on.

Last summer United swooped on Ajax to sign Antony and Lisandro Martinez, who followed Erik ten Hag to Old Trafford.

 The Telegraph reported late last year that Kudus was on United’s wishlist for the January transfer window, however, Ajax were reluctant to sell mid-season and the Red Devils ended up settling for loan deals.

Kudus could work out as a useful player to sign in addition to a centre-forward, due to his ability to play multiple positions.

His desire to leave the club will certainly help any attempts from United to sign him this summer.
