In the 20th minute, he showcased his prowess by elegantly curling a shot into the net to initiate the scoring. This goal marked his third since his loan move in January.
Although Leipzig rallied with four goals to secure the victory and solidify their fourth-place standing, Sancho’s contribution didn’t go unnoticed. With a total of 40 goals in Germany’s top flight, he now stands as the highest-scoring Englishman in Bundesliga history, overtaking the esteemed Tony Woodcock, known for his stints at FC Koln and Fortuna Koln.

However, Sancho’s record may be short-lived, as Harry Kane has been making waves in the Bundesliga since his move to Bayern Munich from Tottenham for a staggering £86 million last summer. With 35 goals to his name already, Kane has three remaining league fixtures this season to equal or surpass Sancho’s record. Kane further underlined his prowess with a brace in Bayern Munich’s 2-1 triumph over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
As the season draws to a close, both Sancho and Kane have three games left to further impact their goal tallies. Sancho’s future remains uncertain as the transfer window approaches, with speculation surrounding his potential return to Manchester United at the end of the season.
