“I think they are the only good players we have and they can be able to take us to the next level. They are the best players we have currently”-Kobbie Mainoo shocks the fans as he names two best Man United teammates and reveals surprise old position. Not Alejandro Garnacho, Not Rasmus Højlund

In his inaugural interview with club media, Kobbie Mainoo, a rising star at Manchester United, disclosed the two standout players he admires most from his time on the field.

Having made his Premier League debut in November against Everton, the 18-year-old has swiftly become a vital component in Erik ten Hag’s lineup, featuring in 12 league fixtures this season.

While United’s overall campaign has been fraught with disappointments, Mainoo’s emergence has been a bright spot for both the club and its fanbase.

During a Q&A session with United’s under-9s squad, Mainoo fielded various intriguing questions, including inquiries about the best player he’s had the privilege of playing alongside.

“I would say Bruno [Fernandes],” Mainoo responded, acknowledging the Portuguese midfielder’s exceptional talent. “Casemiro as well.”

The trio has formed a formidable midfield partnership in recent matches, although Jamie Carragher has highlighted certain tactical issues in Ten Hag’s midfield setup at Old Trafford.

Another query that elicited an intriguing response from the young midfielder was about his goal-scoring record.

Although unable to provide a specific tally, Mainoo revealed his past stint as a striker during his younger years.

“That’s a good one. That’s a tough one,” he remarked. “I know when I was like your guys’ age and a little bit older, I was a striker, so I would’ve scored a lot around then, but recently, not as many. But I’m trying to get back on the scoresheet a bit more.”

Notably, Mainoo has already netted two goals for United’s first-team squad, including a memorable last-minute winner against Wolves.

“I’ve watched it a few hundred times so it’s sunk in now!” Mainoo exclaimed. “To be honest I hadn’t thought about [the celebration] or anything. It just felt right when I scored it, you know. It was a nice clutch moment.”
