Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes received an ‘astronomical offer’ to leave Old Trafford in January, according to reports.

Fernandes, 29, joined United from Sporting back in 2020 for around £55million. The midfielder has since gone on to make 215 appearances across all competitions for the club, scoring 71 goals along the way.

The Red Devils are currently dwelling in seventh place within the top flight of English football, where Fernandes has recorded three goals and four assists throughout the current campaign.He will now be looking to spearhead the revival of United under the new investment from local billionaire, Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

His current contract is set to run until 2026 – with the club holding an option to extend it for a further year – although they will likely look to extend his stay past this date.

However, this hasn’t stopped clubs across world football paying attention to where his future may lie, after one team reportedly made an ‘astronomical offer’ to sign the United captain during the January transfer window.

According to Record, Fernandes turned down an offer from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal last month, after reacting negatively to the proposal due to having ‘things to do’ in Europe prior to the end of his playing days.

Al Hilal already have the likes of Neymar, Malcom and Aleksandar Mitrovic amongst their squad and intended to reunite Fernandes and current boss Jorge Jesus, after the pair worked together at Sporting CP.

The interest from the Middle East is not set to disappear, despite seeing their efforts knocked back in January. Although, the potential deal will hinge on whether or not Fernandes’ intentions change in the future.
