Marcus Rashford has become the first Manchester United player to comment on Jadon Sancho’s loan exit to Borussia Dortmund – by leaving him a short message on Instagram.Sancho rejoined Dortmund on loan on Thursday, with the deal running until the end of the season. There is no option to buy clause inserted into the contract.United are expected, according to reports, to pay one-third of Sancho’s salary, although are keen to reassess his situation at the end of the season when they hope his market value will have increased.For the player himself, it is the ideal place in which to end a near five-month exile from competitive football, having been banished from the United squad since the beginning of September owing to a training dispute with manager Erik ten Hag.
Sancho looked delighted to be back at Dortmund in a behind-the-scenes video posted to the German club’s social media channels, while he is already taking part in training during the Bundesliga’s winter break.Eagle-eyed United fans spotted that, upon the 23-year-old’s loan move being made official by the Red Devils, only two players ‘liked’ the club’s announcement post.They were Rashford and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with both players known to be good friends with Sancho.
On Friday, Sancho posted a photo on his Instagram page of himself back in training, captioning the post: “Good to be back on the pitch.” He also added a smiling emoji.
Below the post, Rashford simply commented: “Yesirrrrr,” and a love heart emoji.
A number of former United players have wished Sancho well, including Jesse Lingard, Angel Gomes and DJ Buffonge,along with Sancho’s England senior and age group team-mates.United attacking coach Benni McCarthy also sent Sancho a good luck message earlier in the week.
The 23-year-old had previously deleted all of his Instagram photos, which clearly represents this being a fresh start for the England winger as he looks to recapture the form that saw him become one of the best young players on the planet.
