Manchester United are close to concluding their internal review on Mason Greenwood’s future at the club. The 21-year-old striker has been away from the pitch for over a year after facing serious legal charges, including attempted rape, assault, and coercive control. Though these charges were subsequently dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service earlier this year, Greenwood’s career remains in the balance.
According to The Mirror, a decision on his future at Old Trafford is imminent.Further reports from The Express reveal Greenwood has made his ‘transfer preference’ clear, he wants to continue his career in England, this is because he’s just had a young child. This hints at the possibility of a domestic loan move, despite interest from overseas clubs, notably in Italy.
Erik ten Hag emphasized that the final call regarding Greenwood’s future lies in the hands of the club’s board, saying, “It’s a club decision. Of course I have said my ideas and opinions but it’s a club decision. We all have to accept that.” He further commented, “I can’t say so much about it. But what I say is I shared my opinion about it so let’s see what’s going to happen and what the decision will be.”Since bursting onto the scene in 2019, Greenwood has donned the United jersey over 100 times, netting 35 goals in the process. His talents were also recognized at the international level, earning him an England cap. As the young striker awaits a decision on his future, he continues training, signaling his eagerness to get back to playing football.
