Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly set his sights on Chelsea star Cole Palmer as an ideal long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.
De Bruyne, a key figure for City and one of the Premier League’s all-time greats, is approaching the final stretch of his career, with his contract set to expire in 2025. According to *Fichajes*, Guardiola is keen on bringing Palmer back to City to fill the void De Bruyne may leave.
Since joining Chelsea from City last season, Palmer has quickly become a standout performer and one of the Blues’ most valuable players. However, Chelsea would reportedly demand as much as €150 million for the 22-year-old, making a potential deal challenging, especially with Financial Fair Play restrictions.
While City has a history of signing top talent under their current ownership, replacing a player of De Bruyne’s caliber will require a significant move. Palmer, who came through City’s youth system, might be the ideal candidate to step into that role, given his familiarity with the club.
However, Chelsea holds all the leverage, as Palmer is under contract until 2033.
