Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott has been part of England’s youth setup for the past three years, helping develop top young talent. Among those he’s worked with are current England internationals Cole Palmer and Morgan Gibbs-White.
Speaking on the *Filthy Fellas* podcast, Lescott shared his thoughts on Arsenal’s rising star, Ethan Nwaneri. Lescott has seen enough of the teenager to predict a bright future, describing Nwaneri as someone who looks very comfortable playing at a high level.
Despite his praise, Lescott agreed with the decision not to give Nwaneri minutes at the U21 level, pointing out that players like Noni Madueke and Harvey Elliott are ahead of him in the pecking order.
When asked about Nwaneri, Lescott said: “Yeah, I’ve seen enough to know he’s comfy. He’s going to be a baller, but his position is on the wing, and you’ve got Noni and Harvey there. As great as he is and as good as he’s going to be, there’s someone ahead of him who’s already doing it.”
Nwaneri has been touted as a special talent, with Paul Merson recently highlighting the young Arsenal star’s potential. However, Arsenal’s academy is known for consistently producing top-tier talent. Another highly regarded prospect is Myles Lewis-Skelly, identified by David Ornstein as the next big name to watch.
Additionally, 16-year-old goalkeeper Jack Porter recently made his senior debut for the Gunners, adding to the club’s promising youth ranks. With players like Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah, and Emile Smith Rowe already having come through the system, Arsenal looks poised to usher in another golden generation from thei
