Palmer was a key player for Chelsea last season, and the team has strengthened around him over the summer. With Chelsea now pushing for Champions League football, they’re in a strong position and likely won’t consider selling him. Palmer is not only improving the team, but he’s also lifting the players around him, creating a united squad pulling in the same direction.
Since moving to Chelsea, the 22-year-old has scored 31 goals and provided 20 assists in just 54 appearances, averaging a goal involvement every 1.06 games. Given those numbers, it’s no surprise Manchester City fans might wonder what could have been if Palmer had stayed at the Etihad.
Oscar Bobb looked promising in pre-season and during the Community Shield, so it was a significant setback when the Norwegian was sidelined for several months with a leg injury before City’s opening-day win against Chelsea.
Fans should also remember that Savinho is still very young. The Brazilian is two years younger than Palmer and, although he hasn’t yet matched Palmer’s output in terms of goals and assists, his potential remains immense.
