Garnacho played a pivotal role in United’s triumph by winning both penalties that led to goals converted by Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford. This victory comes as a much-needed boost for manager Erik ten Hag and the team, following consecutive Premier League defeats against Fulham and Manchester City.
Reflecting on the win, Garnacho emphasized the importance of bouncing back after the recent setbacks. “We lost the last two games. It’s important to be there,” he stated in an interview with TNT Sports. “We want to be in the Champions League next season, so I am very happy with this win. Now every game is a final. We have to win every single game. We’re Manchester United. The job is done.”
The young winger revealed that Ten Hag has tasked him with specific responsibilities on the pitch. “The manager wants me to go one v one, to shoot, to dribble,” Garnacho explained. “I won two penalties. It’s important. It’s like a dream with my age. A full Old Trafford stadium chanting my name is incredible. I am very proud and happy.”
