Zinedine Zidane has reportedly disclosed to a former teammate his preferences regarding potential managerial roles, narrowing down his choices to just three clubs.

Despite being out of management since departing Real Madrid in 2021, the 51-year-old remains highly coveted, with Manchester United purportedly expressing interest in securing his services. Reports suggest that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who recently acquired a significant stake in the club, is keen on appointing Zidane as United’s next permanent manager.

However, United may face disappointment as a former Real Madrid teammate of Zidane, Thomas Gravesen, shared insights from a conversation they had two years ago. Gravesen revealed that Zidane expressed a clear preference for managerial roles with only three specific clubs.

Speaking to Discovery+, Gravesen recounted Zidane’s words: “I spoke to Zidane in Madrid two years ago, and he told me that there are only three roles that he would like to accept.”

Despite United’s eagerness to entice the French World Cup winner to Old Trafford in the summer, Zidane’s limited list of preferred clubs may complicate their pursuit. However, United remains hopeful that Zidane’s renowned managerial prowess could contribute to their long-term success.
