Australian songwriter Sean Millis witnessed Rasmus Hojlund score for Manchester United on his first Old Trafford visit.Millis sprung to fame on the Australian Voice in 2023 but went viral late last year for his supposed likeness to United forward Hojlund.Fans would share Millis’ video for ‘Waiting on a Miracle’ every time United’s £72million summer signing failed to find the net.The Australian singer put a positive spin on the online trolling, however, posting his own clips wearing a United shirt while sending Hojlund motivational words. Said practice saw Millis rise to the top of the online charts in December.
And Millis has now flown to the UK to watch his first United game. Attending the Theatre of Dreams for the first time, the internet sensation was somewhat of a lucky charm as United swept past West Ham 3-0, courtesy of goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Hojlund, who was celebrating his 21st birthday.
For his goal, Hojlund collected a pass from Casemiro, turned and beat Nayef Aguerd with a dummy before firing a strike past Alphonse Areola and into the bottom corner. It was Hojlund’s fourth Premier League goal in his last four games.And after Hojlunds goal found the net, Millis posted a video on Instagram in which he is jubilantly celebrating, while donning a United shirt and windmilling the club scarf.
“That is the character every striker needs, he gets angry, he gets mad when he’s not scoring, but that’s why we selected him, he has the resilience and the calmness to perform under that stress.
“He doesn’t have any moment that he wants to give up, he keeps going every time to put himself in the right position. I’m happy he now starts to score, but it counts for many young players there is a lot of space for improvement, but he’s still now on very good levels.”
