“They are my teammates and I have trained with them, so i know who is the the best among them and who we should sign”-Ilkay Gundogan has ‘told’ Pep Guardiola who Man City should sign between Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz

Ilkay Gundogan has made it clear who he believes Manchester City should target between Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, two of the brightest young talents in world football.

Musiala and Wirtz have emerged as standout players in recent seasons. Musiala has cemented himself as a key player for Bayern Munich and the German national team, while Wirtz played a crucial role in Bayer Leverkusen’s success, helping them win the Bundesliga title last season.

Both players have been linked with Premier League giants, including Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

During EURO 2024, Gundogan, who recently returned to City, expressed his admiration for Musiala. According to Hayters, Gundogan said: “For me, he’s incredible. It’s such a joy to play with him because he can do the unexpected in every situation, and he’s a difference-maker for our team.”

He continued: “At such a young age, he’s already one of our most important players, especially when it comes to creating chances, taking on defenders, making the final pass, and now scoring goals, which is crucial for someone in an attacking role. I love him. He’s a complete player and a humble guy. If he keeps progressing as he is, he could become one of the best.”

Musiala, in a recent interview with *Welt Am Sonntag* (via *GOAL*), addressed his future, saying: “I’m very happy at FC Bayern and fully focused on our goals. Playing abroad like (Jude) Bellingham? I’m not thinking about where I’ll be in five years. In football, things can change quickly.”

Musiala has started the 2024/25 Bundesliga season well, scoring once in two matches under new Bayern boss Vincent Kompany.
