Manchester United fans have gone into a frenzy after hearing their new signing Joshua Zirkzee’s reaction when asked to persuade Jamal Musiala to join the club.
Zirkzee became the first major signing of the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era, joining Manchester United from Bologna earlier this month for £36.5 million. Erik ten Hag has also signed defender Leny Yoro from Lille in a deal worth up to £63 million, but the 18-year-old Frenchman hobbled off injured in United’s latest pre-season friendly against Arsenal.
Last season, Zirkzee made 37 appearances in all competitions for Bologna, scoring 12 times for the Italian side. Although he will not join the United squad on their pre-season tour of the United States, the Dutch international arrived at Carrington on Monday to begin his own preparations.
Zirkzee’s arrival for pre-season was delayed due to an extended holiday following his participation in the Netherlands’ run to the semi-finals of Euro 2024. During his break, he spent time in Las Vegas with his former Bayern Munich teammate Jamal Musiala.
Zirkzee played for the German side for three years, making 17 senior appearances, before leaving to join Bologna on a permanent deal in 2022 following loan spells at Parma and Anderlecht. With Musiala coming off a stellar season for both Bayern and Germany, his holiday with United’s new striker has certainly caught the attention of fans.
Upon arriving at Carrington, Zirkzee was asked by fans, “Can you tell Musiala to join United?” while stopping to sign autographs and take pictures.

The Dutch forward quickly responded with ‘I’ve tried, I’ve tried’ which has sent United fans on social media into a complete meltdown.
One fan reacted: “Imagine Musiala at United, he would be unreal, the Premier League ain’t ready.”
Another fan posted: “Bruno’s replacement 2026, I’ll be there no matter what.”
A third added: “Agent Zirkzee do your thing, we need to see this linkup.”
A fourth replied: “Musiala at United would take us to the next level, get it done.”
