Leny Yoro has sent a message to Manchester United fans following his impressive debut against Rangers at Murrayfield.
United won 2-0 against their Scottish opponents in the pre-season friendly, with goals from Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill coming on either side of half-time.
Fans also witnessed Jadon Sancho in a United shirt for the first time in August after the winger was reintegrated into the squad following positive talks with manager Erik ten Hag. Additionally, Andre Onana made his first pre-season appearance, looking to build on his strong form from the second half of last season.
Much of the discussion surrounding the fixture focused on 18-year-old Yoro, who officially moved to Old Trafford from Lille on Thursday after United paid an initial fee of £50 million plus £12 million in future add-ons. The French centre-back impressed during his debut, playing the full first half and displaying composure and assurance on the ball.
One of his crossfield passes found attacking full-back Sam Murray on the left flank, and he also made a last-ditch tackle to stop Cyriel Dessers from getting a shot on goal.
After the match, Yoro spoke to MUTV to share his thoughts on his debut and sent a message to United fans. He said, “I want to say thank you to the fans – I hope to see you soon at Old Trafford! My debut was incredible. I am happy with my performance. The staff made me comfortable. For me, it is really good. We go to America for three competitive games. The team will give everything to win them.”
United’s tour of the States will include fixtures against Arsenal, Real Betis, and Liverpool before they contest the Community Shield against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City on August 10. They will kick off their 2024/25 Premier League campaign six days later, hosting Everton at Old Trafford.
