“We lost Against Fulham because we don’t have a striker. Rasmus Højlund was injured and it cost us alot and made us realise our mistakes and what we needed to do. We need Natural Strikers not Rashford “-Man Utd ‘willing to pay’ €100 million release clause to sign former Coventry star who scores for fun as he is set to join his dream club this summer

Reports suggest that Manchester United is ready to activate the €100 million release clause to secure the signature of former Coventry star Viktor Gyokeres this summer.

Gyokeres, who currently plies his trade with Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, made a significant move from the Championship side last summer for a fee of £20 million. His impactful performances were instrumental in Coventry’s advancement to the second division play-off final, where they ultimately fell to Luton at Wembley.

The 25-year-old Swede has continued his prolific scoring form in Portugal, netting 16 goals in just 20 Primeira Liga appearances this season, alongside contributing eight assists, including a memorable three-assist display against Estoril last month.

Given Gyokeres’ impressive stats and versatility as a lone striker, he has caught the attention of United manager Erik ten Hag. The possibility of forming a striking partnership with Rasmus Hojlund at Old Trafford adds to his allure.

Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that United is prepared to meet Gyokeres’ hefty release clause of €100 million (£85 million) once the summer transfer window opens. This sum surpasses the £64 million initially paid for Hojlund’s acquisition from Atalanta last year.

Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Gyokeres emphasized his contentment at Sporting in December, stating, “I’m very happy here and I don’t care about any interested parties at the moment. I’m enjoying every day here and not thinking about what’s going on around me.”

While rumors of interest from other clubs persist, Gyokeres remains focused on his current club and disregards external distractions.
