“We almost signed another player who was very stubborn, but we where very luck that we walked in and stopped the deal and we are in talk to sign a better player. After what we heard about him, I think we are very lucky not to sign him”-Utd dressing room could see player ‘with attitude problems’ join today

Manchester United could reportedly sign a striker on loan before tonight’s deadline.

Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign long-term Newcastle target Hugo Ekitike on loan until the end of the season. Ekitike has been struggling for regular game time at Paris Saint-Germain, with reports suggesting that his attitude has drawn criticism internally over the last few months

The young Frenchman has failed to make a single league appearance since the opening day of the campaign and is thought to be keen on securing a loan move elsewhere. It seems as though United could bring him to Old Trafford before tonight’s deadline, with TEAMtalk reporting that Ekitike has been offered to the Red Devils on a temporary basis.

It is said that Ekitike has been informed by PSG that he will not be given minutes in the second half of the season, opening the door for a loan move in the final hours of the January window. Club officials have reportedly offered his services to United and several other Premier League teams, with the striker’s immediate future up in the air as things stand

Ekitike has been the subject of internal criticism at PSG, according to RMC Sport, with his attitude thought to have come under fire in recent months. He was reportedly banned from playing after refusing to join Frankfurt as a bargaining chip in the deal that saw Randal Kolo Muani move to PSG over the summer

Ekitike is also said to have accused PSG of rejecting loan offers with a purchase option, including one from Crystal Palace for around £30million. A move to United would give him the opportunity to rediscover his scoring form on English shores, but it has been reported by Sport1 that he is not being considered by those at Old Trafford.United are not expected to make any signings before the window slams shut, with a move for another striker having been put on the backburner for now. The Red Devils were said to have explored the idea of recruiting a new forward earlier this month but it seems that any deals will need to wait until the summer

Erik ten Hag recently explained that financial restrictions have prevented United from adding extra firepower to their squad despite Anthony Martial undergoing surgery on a groin injury last week.”I looked but there is no space,” said the United boss when quizzed on the possibility of signing another striker. “No space on FFP to do something about this lack of quantity in the striker position. Of course, we have [Marcus] Rashford who can play as a striker, I think also we have some other alternatives. It’s clear now Anthony is out for a couple of months, it’s a gap in our squad.”
