Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has claimed that Andre Onana’s teammates are “losing trust” in the 27-year-old after his continual goalkeeping mistakes.Onana joined the Red Devils in a £47.2million deal from Inter Milan over the summer, but has had a difficult start to life in the Premier League.The Cameroon international has been guilty of a number of errors since taking over the No. 1 spot from David de Gea and was once again at fault for Brentford’s opening goal in Saturday’s dramatic 2-1 win at Old Trafford.Fortunately, Scott McTominay’s stoppage time brace cancelled out Onana’s first-half blunder and saved his teammate from further scrutiny.
After the game, former United shot-stopper Schmeichel revealed he personally reached out to Onana following a string of poor performances between the sticks.Speaking to Premier League Productions, via The Mirror, Schmeichel said: “I think a lot of that [Onana’s mistakes] is pressure.”I spoke to him after Bayern. I spoke to him after Galatasaray as well and he was very down on the mistakes he made.

“If you make a mistake in the game, it might be a mistake we can see, it might be a mistake that we don’t see.”
The former Denmark international then explained that Onana had “upset the whole team” with his errors, and that the players have ‘lost trust’ in the goalkeeper.
“But you wait to think about it and analyse it after the game or at night or whatever,” Schmeichel continued. “You have to be there for the next moment. If you’re not, you’ll make the next mistake.”And now he’s upset the whole team. They will now not trust him even more, and my god, it’s not good.”
