Erik Ten Hag is making a significant step to seal Cristiano Ronaldo’s signing, signaling that Man Utd is finally prepared to make the dream acquisition.

Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United back in November.

In order to maximize his potential at Old Trafford, it was revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo wants Manchester United to sign a striker. As he entered his later years of his career, the veteran thought it would be too much to ask of him to play up top, but Erik ten Hag ultimately decided to bolster other parts of his team. But now, the Red Devils are determined to strengthen their assault, and they have their eyes on players like Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.

Last season, Ronaldo delivered for Manchester United, scoring 24 goals in all competitions during a contentious campaign that spanned the tenures of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

Even though the veteran was in good shape, he was not content.

Ronaldo expressed his frustration with United’s situation, which he eventually made public in his explosive and contentious chat with Piers Morgan.

And he persuaded the team to sign a second forward to join himself since he thought his techniques would help the Red Devils perform much better.

In the end, however, Ronaldo was to be left disappointed.

The United icon soon found out Ten Hag had other priorities, with the Dutchman willing to place his faith in the inconsistent, but talented, Anthony Martial.

United landed a left-back in Tyrell Malacia, a centre-back in Tyrell Malacia, a forward in Antony and back-up goalkeeper in the form of Martin Dubravka.

They also bolstered their midfield, too, with the likes of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro arriving in different circumstances from Brentford and Real Madrid respectively.

But Ronaldo’s hopes of getting a new partner in crime were dented, with Ten Hag choosing to hold fire.

Fast-forward to now, however, and everything that changed after a positive, yet chaotic, season so far.

United do want a right-back these days, despite the obvious improvement Aaron Wan-Bissaka has managed in recent months.

Another midfielder is craved, too, with Frenkie de Jong and Jude Bellingham still under consideration having rejected the club in the past.

But United’s top transfer target is somebody to lead the line and fire them to trophies galore in the years ahead.

Right now, there seem to be two priorities behind the scenes as the club look to land a world-class No 9.

Kane is one, with the Tottenham striker’s long-term future at Tottenham currently shrouded in uncertainty.

The England international has been as consistent as ever this term, netting 25 goals and clocking up four assists from 41 appearances across all competitions.

Spurs would love to keep their talisman at the club as they prepare for the start of yet another new era.

But with Kane’s current deal due to expire in 2024, Tottenham face selling their 29-year-old now – or risk losing him for nothing in 12 months’ time.

Osimhen is another star who has admirers at United.

The Nigeria international actually considered moving to the Red Devils in 2020, only to turn down a transfer out of respect for compatriot Odion Ighalo.

Osimhen has been in outstanding form for Napoli this term, scoring 21 goals and registering four assists from 23 Serie A matches.

He will be expensive, with the Serie A champions-elect poised to demand big money to let their talisman go.

But with United’s need for a new marksman clear, it’s feasible they’ll end up paying whatever it takes in order to get their way.

Ronaldo wanted the club to act 12 months ago.

Yet United are now finally ready to make amends and, as the summer transfer window creeps closer, links to Osimhen and Kane are likely to intensify.
