The potential departure of long-serving director of football Txiki Begiristain at the end of the season has fueled speculation that Guardiola might also leave, signaling the start of a new era under Hugo Viana, who is set to replace Begiristain.
While City have expressed their desire to keep Guardiola, reports suggest the manager is considering stepping down in 2025. According to ESPN, City officials hope to secure a definitive answer from Guardiola by the end of the year, allowing them ample time to find a suitable successor if necessary.
One of the top candidates to replace Guardiola is Sporting CP manager Rúben Amorim, who currently works with Viana. Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes recently endorsed Amorim, believing he could succeed in the Premier League. While Amorim could be a preferred choice for Viana, *The Athletic* notes that their past relationship does not guarantee the pair will reunite at Manchester City next season.
