Arsenal centre-back William Saliba has emerged as Real Madrid’s top target for the summer transfer window in 2025, according to French outlet Le10Sport. The Spanish giants are reportedly in contact with Saliba’s representatives to gauge what it would take to persuade the talented defender to make the move to Madrid.
While Madrid may be prepared to make a significant financial offer, attracting Saliba away from Arsenal could be challenging. The 23-year-old signed a new four-year contract extending until 2027 in July 2023, and he may soon receive another extension due to his vital role at the club.
Over the past two seasons, Saliba has solidified his reputation as one of the best centre-backs in the world. His impressive performances have even caught the attention of his compatriot and Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger, who has expressed his desire for the club to sign Saliba. Rudiger named Saliba among his top three centre-backs globally and mentioned that he would relish the opportunity to play alongside him.
Although Rudiger’s wish could potentially come true, Arsenal would be reluctant to lose such a key player. Under manager Mikel Arteta, the Gunners have transformed into a formidable force in both the Premier League and Europe, coming close to challenging Manchester City for the title in the past two seasons. However, the allure of joining Madrid—who are perennial contenders for the Champions League and La Liga—could be enticing for Saliba.
For Arsenal, retaining Saliba is crucial, and they will work diligently to keep him away from Real Madrid’s grasp both next summer and beyond.
