Ugarte joined Manchester United from Paris Saint-Germain in a £50.7 million transfer this summer. However, he wasn’t registered in time to feature in United’s 3-0 defeat to Liverpool. Despite the enthusiasm, Erik ten Hag has suggested Ugarte may need time to build his fitness before making his debut. “Manuel Ugarte hasn’t played any minutes so far this season,” Ten Hag explained. “He needs to build his fitness and then integrate into the team. I’m sure he’ll be an important player, but it may take a few weeks, maybe even months.”
Ugarte, who made 37 appearances for PSG last season, has yet to play a match this campaign. Whether he will be included in the squad against Southampton remains to be seen, but anticipation continues to grow among United fans.
