According to a report, Manchester United have decided on Antony’s future.

United have been active in the transfer market, recently signing 18-year-old Lille defender Leny Yoro for up to £58.9 million and Joshua Zirkzee for £36.5 million earlier this month.

There have also been departures, with Mason Greenwood moving to Marseille.

ESPN reports that several more United players might leave. Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelöf, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Scott McTominay, and Christian Eriksen, all with contracts expiring in 2025, are available for the right offer this summer.

In previous years, United resisted such a clear-out due to the Glazers’ transfer policy.

“Joel and Avram [Glazer] would consider selling Wan-Bissaka or Lindelöf,” a source told ESPN. “But they would evaluate the cost of replacing them versus keeping them until the end of their contracts. When it was cheaper to retain the players, they opted to keep them for another year, even if it meant losing them for free later.”

Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS Group took over, this policy has changed.

Joshua Zirkzee was signed from Bologna for £36.5 million, slightly above his £34 million release clause, to allow staggered payments over three years.

Young defender Leny Yoro joined from Lille for £52.2 million, with United beating Real Madrid to his signature.

United have been funding these acquisitions by selling current squad members, including Alvaro Fernandez to Benfica for £7.5 million, Donny van de Beek to Girona for up to £7.6 million, Willy Kambwala to Villarreal for almost £10 million, and Mason Greenwood to Marseille for £26.6 million.

More transfer activity is expected before the window closes at 11 PM on August 30.

This is the first summer Ten Hag has operated under the new structure implemented by INEOS following their takeover.

With his contract extended to the summer of 2026, Ten Hag has had some responsibilities, particularly in scouting and recruitment, shifted away from him.

Speaking to Dutch publication AD via the Daily Express, he said: “The foundation has been greatly strengthened. Much of the scouting and recruitment has been delegated, which is necessary. A strong structure in scouting and transfer policy is essential. I’m pleased to have Dan [Ashworth], Jason [Wilcox], and Christopher [Vivell] by my side. The club now has incredible market knowledge that aids me.

“We’ve only been working with these new individuals for a few weeks, but Ashworth is close by—just a room away. The new owners involve me more in the process. It’s early days, but the signs are very promising.”
