Manchester United were one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs on transfer deadline day.United completed four signings in the hours leading up to Friday’s deadline as Altay Bayindir, Jonny Evans, Sergio Reguilion and Sofyan Amrabat all joined Erik ten Hag’s squad for the 2023/24 season.Meanwhile, five players left United on Friday.Marc Jurado and Logan Pye moved to Espanyol and Burnley for undisclosed fees, while Charlie McNeill, Mason Greenwood and Alvaro Fernandez departed on season-long loans to Stevenage, Getafe and Granada respectively.
Turkey goalkeeper Bayindir, 25, arrived at Old Trafford from Fenerbahce for a fee in the region of £4 million.Bayindir will join Tom Heaten in providing back-up to first-choice keeper Andre Onana.
Northern Ireland center-back Evans, 35, has signed a contract until the end of the season.Evans had spent pre-season with the club having previously joined on a trial basis.Evans started his career at Old Trafford and won 11 trophies with the Red Devils before leaving to join West Brom in 2015.He became a free agent at the end of last season after leaving Leicester City.
Spain left-back Reguilon, 26, arrived from Tottenham on a season-long loan deal.His arrival came after Luke Shaw was ruled out for around 10 weeks with a thigh injury.Reguilon told ManUtd.com: “In life you have to be ready for everything and the chance to represent this great club with such an illustrious history is one that I could not turn down.”Having spoken to the manager, I know what he needs from me, and I am ready to play my part in helping the team to achieve success.
“I know that I can contribute to Manchester United this season; I am ready to fight for this group and show everyone my qualities.”
Morocco midfielder Amrabat, 27, was United’s final signing on deadline day, arriving from Fiorentina on an initial loan deal.
United will pay Fiorentina a loan fee of €10m and will have the option to sign Amrabat permanently next summer for €20m plus €5m in add-ons.”It is a huge honor to become a Manchester United player,” said Amrabat. “I’ve had to be patient for this moment but I’m someone who always listens to my heart and now I am representing the club of my dreams.”I am a passionate player; I want to bring that energy to the squad, and I will put everything into every action I take for the team.”I know exactly how Erik ten Hag likes to work and what he needs from his players.”His coaching and guidance developed me so much as a player earlier in my career.”I know that he will help to bring out the best of my abilities so that I can help the group to be successful this season.”
