Manchester United are ramping up their pursuit of a new No. 9 to address their ongoing goalscoring woes ahead of next season, according to reports.

The Red Devils are on track to record their lowest-ever Premier League goal tally, surpassing even the struggles of Louis van Gaal’s final season in 2015-16, when they managed just 49 goals. So far, United have found the net only 38 times in 32 games, putting them on pace to finish with just 45 goals.

In response, new sporting director Christopher Vivell was spotted scouting RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško during their clash with Wolfsburg last Friday. The 21-year-old Slovenian is seen as a top target to bolster United’s frontline.

Reports suggest there’s a gentleman’s agreement in place allowing Šeško to leave Leipzig for around £60 million this summer, although the club could push for as much as £86m given the level of interest across Europe.

While Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham are also monitoring his progress, AC Milan have joined the chase as well, meaning United face stiff competition for his signature.

Beyond Šeško, manager-in-waiting Rúben Amorim is believed to be considering multiple striker options as United prepare for a busy summer window.

According to Mail Sport, Liam Delap of Ipswich Town has emerged as United’s top priority. The club are reportedly ready to activate the £40 million release clause in his contract—especially if Ipswich are relegated.

Delap is now considered a preferred target ahead of names like Victor Osimhen (Napoli), Victor Gyökeres (Sporting Lisbon), and Hugo Ekitike (Eintracht Frankfurt).
