Lisandro Martínez Ruled Out for the Season with Cruciate Ligament Injury**
Manchester United have confirmed that Lisandro Martínez has suffered a cruciate ligament injury during Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace. The defender was forced off on a stretcher in the 82nd minute after receiving treatment on the pitch. He will be sidelined until next season.
In an official statement, the club said:

Assessment of the injury is ongoing to determine the appropriate course of treatment and the timescale for his rehabilitation. This latest injury comes almost exactly a year after Martínez sustained medial collateral ligament damage during United’s 3-0 win over West Ham on 4 February. He made his return in the 1-1 draw at Brentford on 30 March but was again sidelined shortly after with a calf issue that kept him out for six weeks.
Speaking on the situation, United head coach Ruben Amorim commented: *“He’s going to be out for a while. We don’t know the extent of the injury yet, but it’s going to take time.”* Amorim also noted the club is being cautious with Luke Shaw, who is managing a new problem unrelated to his previous injury.
Addressing criticism over the club’s lack of winter signings, Amorim acknowledged the risk: *“If results don’t improve, I’ll be blamed for not bringing in experienced players in January. I understand that. But I have a clear vision, and although it’s a challenge to change everything mid-season without reinforcements, I believe it will pay off. I’m not naive — this is a results-driven sport, and we’re in a tough spot.”*
