Manchester United is among the teams vying to sign Borussia Dortmund’s “unstoppable” forward Karim Adeyemi, a player rumored to be faster than Marcus Rashford.
The Red Devils relieved some pressure on manager Erik ten Hag over the weekend with a convincing victory against Southampton, returning to winning ways in the Premier League.
Despite the win, United has had a rocky start to the season, winning only two of their first six league matches. Ten Hag has faced criticism, though the club’s board demonstrated strong support for him during the summer transfer window.
United signed five players this summer but appears keen to strengthen further. Reports last week linked the club to AS Monaco defender Vanderson, who is also being monitored by Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. The Ligue 1 side values the Brazilian right-back at €35–40 million (£29–35 million). Vanderson could be seen as an upgrade on Diogo Dalot.
Additionally, United has been keeping tabs on Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Martin Baturina. The 20-year-old, previously linked with Leeds United, stayed with Zagreb during the summer but has reportedly caught United’s eye during international duty.
However, United’s ambitions don’t stop there. A report from Spain relayed by Caught Offside suggests United is also interested in Adeyemi, with Newcastle United and Liverpool posing competition for the 22-year-old.
Adeyemi joined Dortmund from RB Salzburg in 2022 and has impressed in the Bundesliga with his blistering pace and technical ability. He set a top speed of 36.30 km/h last season, eclipsing Rashford’s 35.71 km/h. Football pundit Ben Mattinson has hailed him as “unstoppable.”
The winger’s contract with Dortmund runs until 2027, but rumors of a potential move have surfaced, with United reportedly viewing him as a possible successor to Antony. The Brazilian winger has struggled for form this season and has been linked with a move to Fenerbahce.
Adeyemi has started the 2024–25 Bundesliga season in fine form, recording two goals and an assist in three matches. As Dortmund begins their Champions League campaign, Adeyemi will look to build on his strong performances, and a move to Old Trafford could be a storyline to watch in 2025.
