“I had an agreement with my mother. I would continue at school until I signed a professional contract. I signed when I was 17. Today, I regret it a lot. If I’d taken my exams, I could have completed my 12th year and even gone to a top college.”

Amorim added with a touch of humor:

Maria, who married Amorim at the stunning Palácio de S. Marcos church in Coimbra, holds a degree in telecommunications engineering and now co-runs a successful interior design business, Dois Ton, with Raquel, the wife of Manchester City director of football Hugo Viana.
