Reports from Spain, as cited by *Football Fancast*, suggest that Ruben Amorim is planning a significant squad overhaul at Manchester United in January.

Set to officially take over after leaving Sporting Lisbon on November 11, Amorim has already earmarked four players he deems surplus to his plans. Brazilian stars Casemiro and Antony, both brought in under Erik ten Hag for a combined fee of €170 million, have been placed on the transfer list as Amorim aims to create a fresh start. Veteran midfielder Christian Eriksen, considered too old to fit into Amorim’s long-term vision, will be available for a reduced price, as will defender Victor Lindelof, who is low in Amorim’s defensive lineup.

Amorim signed a contract until 2027 with Manchester United, who paid the €10 million release clause to secure his move from Sporting. At just 39, the Portuguese coach is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest managerial prospects, having won five trophies with Sporting since his arrival in 2020, including two league titles. He also helped cultivate several young talents, including prolific striker Viktor Gyokeres. Despite his Sporting connections, Amorim has clarified that he does not intend to pursue any of his current players in the January window but does plan both incoming and outgoing moves.

Manchester United are currently in a challenging position, sitting 13th in the Premier League table with only 11 points from nine games, and have yet to secure a win in three Europa League matches.
