Kulusevski seems to relish facing City, admitting he takes it “personally” when competing against Pep Guardiola’s team. The 24-year-old Swede, now flourishing as a central playmaker under Ange Postecoglou, provided two assists in Spurs’ spirited win. This brings his goal contributions against City to three goals and four assists—the most he’s achieved against any team since Guardiola took charge. “I knew I had to do something important because it’s an amazing game to play,” he said. “I take it personally to play against City. I promised myself I’d have a good game, and I think I did.”

Kulusevski insists his exceptional performance wasn’t fueled by disappointment from last weekend’s loss to Crystal Palace but rather his passion for competing with top teams. “It wasn’t about Palace—it’s just because it’s City,” he explained. “I love playing against the best; it’s extra motivation. Going in at 2-0 would’ve changed everything. But we handled it well in the second half, creating many chances, and stayed strong till the end,” he said.
