Manchester City have seen a number of players depart for other Premier League clubs in recent years. Notable examples include Raheem Sterling, Liam Delap, Cole Palmer, Gabriel Jesus, and Oleksandr Zinchenko, all of whom left the Etihad during previous transfer windows. Sterling and Palmer both joined Chelsea, although Sterling has since moved to Arsenal on a season-long loan, reuniting with former City teammates Jesus and Zinchenko.
While the next summer transfer window is still months away, Chelsea are reportedly eyeing another City player—this time, Ruben Dias. According to journalist Simon Phillips (via *Caught Offside*), Chelsea are planning an ambitious bid for Dias amid rumors that some City players are becoming unsettled due to various internal matters, such as sporting director Txiki Begiristain’s anticipated departure, speculation over Pep Guardiola’s future, and the ongoing 115 financial charges facing the club.
Dias has been a crucial part of City’s defense since joining from Benfica in 2020 for £65 million, making 189 appearances and helping the club secure multiple trophies. His performances, including an excellent display against Chelsea in their 2-0 Premier League win at Stamford Bridge, have earned high praise. Troy Deeney highlighted Dias’ contribution in that match, calling him a “proper, proper defender” after his critical intervention in the first half.
Given Dias’ importance to the team and that his contract runs until 2027, it is unlikely City would be willing to sell him to Chelsea or any other club in the near future.
