Manchester City are reportedly among several Premier League clubs closely monitoring FC Nordsjaelland’s Daniel Svensson, according to *TBR Football*. The Swedish Under-21 international has caught the attention of the Premier League champions with his impressive performances in Denmark this season.
Liverpool, Brighton, and Aston Villa all considered bids for Svensson during the summer, and now City, Arsenal, and Tottenham have also sent scouts to watch him in action. Brentford is also said to be interested.
Svensson, 22, primarily plays as a left-footed central midfielder but has also gained experience as an inverted fullback—a role that has become increasingly popular in modern football. Given that both Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta frequently use inverted fullbacks in their systems, it’s no surprise that the Swede has attracted their attention.
Last season, Svensson scored 4 goals and provided 12 assists across 48 appearances, mostly as a midfielder. However, he has predominantly been deployed at left-back this season for Nordsjaelland.
City are particularly interested in finding a young left-back to replace Sergio Gomez, who joined Real Sociedad in July. Svensson’s age and versatility make him an appealing option to add depth to Guardiola’s squad. Although he wouldn’t be expected to start immediately, the opportunity to join City would represent a significant step forward in his career after four and a half years at Nordsjaelland.
