William Saliba has been a crucial part of Arsenal’s success under Mikel Arteta, continuing his excellent form into this season with the Gunners conceding just six goals in their first seven Premier League matches. Despite reported interest from Real Madrid, Saliba has no intention of leaving Arsenal anytime soon.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid view Saliba as “the future of their defence,” and Antonio Rudiger has even identified him as the player he would most like to see join the club. However, Romano told *GIVEMESPORT* that Saliba is fully committed to Arsenal: “There is absolutely nothing going on with Saliba and any other club… He never considered leaving Arsenal.”
Saliba extended his contract in the summer of 2023 and remains very happy at the club, where he is seen as a key player in Arteta’s long-term project. “Saliba can see the ambition under Arteta, and how important he is to the project,” Romano added. “It’s a compliment for him to have admirers, but nothing more than that. Arsenal and Saliba intend to continue together for the long term.”
Real Madrid has maintained interest in Saliba, who has become a defensive mainstay for Arsenal since his debut in 2022. The 23-year-old played every minute of Arsenal’s Premier League campaign last season, helping the Gunners establish one of the best defensive records in the league.
Although Saliba acknowledges that winning more trophies is the next step to being considered an elite player, he believes he can achieve those goals with Arsenal, further solidifying his commitment to the club. While Real Madrid may eventually test Arsenal’s resolve, for now, Saliba remains fully focused on helping Arsenal achieve success in North London.
