“He is the worst signing of the season. How did we sign a player like that? He literally cannot do anything with the ball. We could have beaten Tottenham Hotspur in the first half if not for him”-Man Utd fans all make the same complaint about one United star in who lead to Manchester United loss vs Sqpurs

Manchester United fans have expressed frustration over one player’s underwhelming performance during the first half of their Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs stunned United early at Old Trafford, with Brennan Johnson scoring in the third minute to give the visitors a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Red Devils struggled throughout the match, with a major setback occurring shortly before the break when captain Bruno Fernandes received a straight red card for a foul on James Maddison.

However, it was Joshua Zirkzee who particularly drew the ire of fans. He missed United’s best opportunity to equalize in the first half, sparking criticism on social media for failing to bring his team back into the game.

One fan on X posted: “This might be the worst 30 minutes of football I’ve ever seen. Did Zirkzee win a competition to play for us?”

Another added: “Zirkzee is so slow. He’s killed United’s counterattacking flow. Missed a one-on-one. Not a finisher.”

A third fan compared Zirkzee to Erling Haaland, commenting: “Zirkzee is 1.93m, Haaland is 1.94m, but Zirkzee is always stretching for the ball. He never seems in control of his shots. It’s bizarre.”

Another echoed this sentiment: “Zirkzee is ALWAYS stretching, man. Zero box instinct for a striker.”

United’s woes deepened in the second half. Just two minutes after the restart, Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski doubled Tottenham’s lead. In the 77th minute, Dominic Solanke scored Spurs’ third, sealing a comprehensive 3-0 victory for the visitors.

This result extended United’s winless run to three matches, following back-to-back draws against Crystal Palace in the Premier League and FC Twente in the Europa League. Overall, the Red Devils have managed just three wins from their first eight games of the season.
