Barcelona are reportedly prepared to sell Frenkie de Jong for €60 million, according to sources in Spain.

The Dutch international, who has been linked with a potential departure from Camp Nou since his arrival in 2019, could finally be on his way out, with the Blaugrana seemingly open to a sale this summer.

Manchester United have long been admirers of De Jong and have come close to signing the 27-year-old in each of the past two summer transfer windows. Now, a move may be more likely than ever.

According to the Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona is willing to part with De Jong this summer, setting an asking price of €60 million.

United are in the market for a new central midfielder and have encountered challenges in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte. While the Uruguayan remains United’s top target, PSG is reluctant to lower his €60 million price tag.

As a result, the Red Devils are exploring other options. Burnley’s Sander Berge has emerged as a potential candidate, as revealed by The Transfers Podcast, while Joao Gomes and Youssouf Fofana are also on their radar.

However, United may now have the perfect opportunity to secure De Jong’s services, given his uncertain future at Barcelona and the club’s revised asking price of €60 million.

De Jong’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €47.5 million, down from a peak of €86.1 million in July 2021.

So far this summer, Manchester United have made significant moves in the transfer market, signing Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee and Lille defender Leny Yoro for a combined €104.5 million.

Additionally, Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are expected to join the club soon, with their arrivals on the verge of being announced.

On the departure front, United have sold Mason Greenwood to Marseille, Willy Kambwala to Villarreal, Alvaro Carreras Fernandez to Benfica, and Donny van de Beek to Girona. Raphael Varane headlines the list of free transfer exits for the Red Devils.
