Ruud van Nistelrooy has been tasked with elevating one Manchester United star to a new level next season.
Van Nistelrooy returned to United this summer alongside fellow coach Rene Hake to assist in overhauling Erik ten Hag’s coaching team. The ex-striker, who netted 150 goals for the club during his five-year tenure as a player, was expected to positively influence attacking players like Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
However, numerous reporters covering the pre-season tour have also noted Van Nistelrooy’s significant impact on defensive training. The 48-year-old could play a key role in improving the defensive situation at Old Trafford, and he will have a leading role in helping one player improve his final third actions.
According to GiveMeSport, the new United coach has been tasked with elevating Alejandro Garnacho’s game to a new level. The club is confident that the Argentine has further quality waiting to be unlocked and believes that his decision-making and efficiency in the final third will improve with work alongside Van Nistelrooy.
United coaches and the hierarchy at Old Trafford are adamant that bringing out the best in the 20-year-old is key if they want to continue challenging for silverware.
