Earlier speculations linked United with a move for 18-year-old Lille defender Leny Yoro, but according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have now emerged as the front-runners to secure his signature.

Alongside Yoro, United had also shown interest in Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, but they now face stiff competition for his acquisition. Spanish outlet Sport reports that several Premier League clubs are willing to meet Todibo’s valuation of at least £52 million, potentially pricing United out of a move for the French international this summer.

United’s financial flexibility in the transfer market this summer may be limited, given their past high expenditure in recent seasons. Additionally, Nice’s steep demands for Todibo may be influenced by Barcelona’s 25% sell-on clause attached to the player.
