Jose Mourinho has shared insights into his most cherished players throughout his illustrious managerial career spanning Manchester United, Chelsea, and Real Madrid.

The 61-year-old, currently without a club following his departure from AS Roma, has had the privilege of coaching football’s elite over the past two decades. From iconic figures like John Terry, Frank Lampard, and Didier Drogba during his initial stint at Chelsea, to the formidable trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid.

In a candid conversation with former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand on VIBE with FIVE, Mourinho delved into the players he found most gratifying to coach.

He explained, “The players I most enjoyed coaching are the ones who gave their all. They may not always be the most talented, but their dedication and commitment were unparalleled.”Mourinho highlighted the special bond he forms with players, particularly those he nurtures from a young age. “When I coach a player, they become like my own,” he expressed. “Players like Raphael Varane and Scott McTominay, whom I’ve seen grow and develop, hold a special place in my heart.”Reflecting on the influential figures within his squads, Mourinho praised stalwart leaders like John Terry, Javier Zanetti, and Jorge Costa.

He also acknowledged the impact of star players who consistently delivered match-winning performances, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Didier Drogba.

Discussing Ronaldo’s transformation into a prolific goalscorer during his tenure at Real Madrid, Mourinho emphasized the importance of creating an environment where players thrive. “With Ronaldo, it’s not about coaching; it’s about allowing him to express himself and ensuring he’s in a conducive tactical setup,” he explained. “At Madrid, we adapted his role, transitioning him from a winger to a lethal goalscorer.”Mourinho reminisced about Ronaldo’s evolution at Real Madrid, noting his pivotal shift towards a central attacking role.
