Man Utd midfielder who is a fan favorite ‘expected to leave’ this summer after disappointing season

Manchester United might permit one of their most promising young players to join another organization permanently this summer.

After a fruitful first season in charge at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag is preparing for his second.

With a third-place finish in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup victory, he led United back to the Champions League while also earning the club’s first significant trophy in six years.

The Dutchman has already acknowledged that his team needs more talent if United is to contend for the crown the following campaign, and the Red Devils are expected to be quite active in the forthcoming summer transfer window.

United have already had a £40m bid rejected by Chelsea for Mason Mount but are expected to return with another offer for the England international.

They are also reportedly preparing an offer for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund after ending their interest in Tottenham forward Harry Kane.

In addition to new signings, Ten Hag is expected to sanction the sale of a number of senior players in order to raise transfer funds, with the likes of Eric Bailly, Alex Telles, Dean Henderson and Donny van de Beek all expected to leave this summer.

Iqbal ‘expected to leave’ Man Utd

Another player who could be on his way out is young midfielder Zidane Iqbal.

The 20-year-old played five of United’s six pre-season games last summer and was expected to push on under Ten Hag.

But he failed to make a single senior competitive appearance throughout the campaign.

ManchesterWorld claim Iqbal sees his immediate future away from United, who are willing to allow him to leave this summer.

While a departure on loan looks the most likely outcome, a permanent move could also happen if United receive a suitable offer.

Iqbal, who was born in Manchester, has already earned three caps for Iraq’s senior team.

He has made just one senior appearance for United, coming on as a late substitute in a Champions League game against Young Boys in December 2021.
