Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle are reportedly among a group of clubs interested in signing Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga.
The 20-year-old is seen as one of the brightest young prospects in La Liga after a breakout season for the Galician club.
Veiga has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 22 league appearances this campaign.
It is a remarkable rise for a player who, according to Spanish publication AS, did not have a senior squad number before January.
AS have reported that several Premier League sides are interested in Veiga.
It is claimed that Carabao Cup runners-up Newcastle sent scouts to watch the Spaniard in a league match against Atletico Madrid on February 12.
Manchester United and Arsenal are also said to be ‘on the lookout’ for Veiga, who is under contract with Celta Vigo until 2026.
The Spanish club will be reluctant to sell one of their best young talents but it is claimed that a figure of around €30m (£26.4m) would be enough to sign the midfielder.
Romano plays down Veiga reports
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has played down the chances of Veiga moving to the Premier League in the immediate future.
“Some Arsenal fans have asked me about links with Celta Vigo youngster Gabri Veiga,” Romano said.
“However, I think it’s way too early before linking him with big clubs like this.
“I’m told four or five top clubs scouts are monitoring him as Veiga is a top talent and he’s doing great in La Liga, but it’s something for the future, not present.”
Spain manager Luis de la Fuente is said to be keeping tabs on Veiga and could call him up to the senior squad for their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Norway and Scotland.
Meanwhile, Celta Vigo manager Carlos Carvalhal believes the young midfielder is destined for a bright future.
“He is intelligent, very strong and knows how to reach finishing zones,” said the former Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea manager.
“He will go very high in the world of football.”
